English Writing Coach

"I believe every writer deserves a voice."
I'm 1.95m tall, write books and I can fly.

Hi, I'm Phil - a writer and an educator from the UK. Currently, I live in The Canary Islands, Spain, where the palms are tall and the bananas are the best in the world.
In 2011, I quit my job in advertising, completed a CELTA teaching course and packed a suitcase. Ten years later, I've visited around fifty countries and taught students from even more.
Since 2018, I've worked as a writing coach. This means that I use my expertise as a language teacher and as an author to help multilingual writers develop their skills. I'm passionate about books, travel, and helping people transform into the best versions of themselves (and I also really like crisps). These days, I run the world's best community for multilingual pro writers and provide CPD training to companies. When I'm not working, I like hiking and watching cat videos (but not at the same time).
I've published two collections of short fiction, Foreign Voices (2018) and The Fisherwoman (2021). In May 2022, my debut novella, Fifteen Brief Moments in Time, was published by V Press. When I'm not writing, I'm usually dreaming up stories (or watching cat videos).
My most popular book to date is How to Become a Proficient English Writer - an eBook packed with useful tips for international writers.
On this site, you'll find actionable advice about improving your English writing and information about my courses, workshops and services.
